The O’Connell Family is growing again, and we are happy to be expecting baby number 6.  Here we are at 14 weeks, not sure my monkey knows what to think of my growing belly.

It still surprises me that I am a mom of soon to be 6, merely because I thought growing up I would only want one child.  Of course it was selfish thinking, the joy we get from these guys doesn’t even come close to every fun moment we had prior to them added up with a scoop of ice cream, with chocolate syrup… (sorry pregnant moment).  Its funny but the number one comment I have gotten since we started telling people we are expecting, is “ohh your going to have to get a bigger car”.  Rest assured mine seats 8!

For the photography, don’t miss moments with your own kids being stuck behind the camera. For this little mini shoot I shot in manual (always), used my cameras self timer, and ran like mad.

(f6.3, shutter 1/40, ISO 1250) not the settings I would have used behind the camera but I think they worked overall for a self portrait.  Image is back lit by 6 windows.

Personally I am working on my black and white photography and trying out some new moodier styles with my processing, other than the conversion to black and white and tweaking those layers, I did very little retouching to the subjects, just removed some mosquito bites off the monkey, apparently they think she is the juiciest thing in Texas right now, enjoy!

I really loved my time with sweet little (11 day old)  Tyler, his mom, dad and grandmother.  What a beautiful family, you are all so blessed.  I look forward to watching you grow little man!

I am so happy to say good bye to the winter blues and welcome Spring.  Although for Texas, Spring is more like a lite summer.  I am grateful that my evening sessions can start a little later and we have plenty of light to go to more than one location.

Its amazing how much a family can grow “up” in just a couple years.  Brooks is super tall and at 5’8″ myself I was wishing I had a stool.  Shelby has gone from being just a gorgeous girl into an even more gorgeous young lady and I was really happy to find she still had that signature “Shelby” personality.

Here’s a little look back. I stumbled on these circa 2008 when preparing for this blog.

This session was done as an addition to the newborn post I did a few months ago. Baby L We needed to get big sister in on this new baby love, I have been waiting to share these images because I knew they would be using them for their birth announcements as well, and I didn’t want to spoil the surprise.  This was the last time I was able to photograph in “my window” and I am glad it was to capture two of my favorite girls.

Everything about this couple oooozzzed Romance. I adore this session, it gave me the opportunity to photograph people the way I love to photograph them, with freedom, softness, and processed in a way that I think highlights the love so obviously between these two.

I love newborns! I would photograph them 5 days a week.  I love the warm, cuddly challenge they present when photographing them and I love the victory when you know that you got what you wanted in the end.  Miss Nora is such a precious girl, the 9th baby and 6th girl born to very dear friends of ours.  I am honored that they let me document their lives.

“Randomness” My word to describe today.  Its a new year so I am challenging myself to do something I have not down, and that is to photograph some “unimportant” day in a week for the next 52 weeks.  A year of random moments in our life.

We just moved to a new house and 50% of it is covered in plastic, my living room furniture is in the dining room, my family room furniture is in the kitchen and there are still boxes waiting to be unpacked.  Yesterday and today I started trying to work again. I got one session down and blogged yesterday and started a newborn session today, then I thought wait I am going to blow the 52 the first week. So today Ireland and I spent some time playing in her new room!  And yes, she had her snack upstairs, shhh, don’t tell the big kids mommy broke the rules.
