First I want to say Thank you to all my families, you guys have endured some record breaking summer temps for your holiday portraits… and all of you have done it with great style and tons of patience.  Happy kids make for happy photography sessions and I really appreciate all the hard work you put into the session before you ever even see me.

After I finished this session I realized this is the first time, not counting my own crew, that I have photographed a family with three kiddos under the age of 5.  These kids were great, sweet and a lot of fun.  But the key is you kinda gotta let them do there own thing, give them 60% control of the session and see what happens, spend the other 40% of the session going for those “mom shots”.  I hope you guys love your images, you have a beautiful family and it was a privilege photographing them.

Had the opportunity to spend an evening with this lovely family, before Jim’s daughter India headed off to college “out of state, gulp”

I was totally impressed by the love between the two siblings and dad, it is always makes me happy when I get the opportunity to photograph this kind of bond.  I hope you all enjoy your sneak peak!

and a couple of quotes I came across about family!

Well, If I have to say so myself, my first ever College Senior Portrait session, ROCKED!  I have my tour of the town down, I know what I want from these sessions and I love it all from the sweet, to the sassy, from the bold color statements to the softness of those sunset shots.  Sarah you were amazing and you look HOT, and not in the sweaty 100 degree kind of way.  I wish you the best as you begin your new career path, the future is all there for you!

… Mrs. C… no crying, you know I can’t let you do that alone! Love you and your amazing family!

The Holidays are here… okay well maybe not in your world but mine is ringing with jingle bells and fa la la la la!  This adorable family who I love, and you may remember from last year’s maternity session and this year’s newborn session (Sweet Josilyn) are kicking off this seasons family holiday portrait sessions.

The toughest thing about taking a family portrait in August, in Texas is of course the heat!  I think we were looking at a heat index of around 108 this evening, but this session was “No Sweat”!

Thank you for your dedication to me, and for being amazing clients and friends.  Hope you love your sneak peek!

**I am currently booked for family holiday portraits for the remainder of the year.  However I do have a short waiting list.  I may open a few more dates in October, if you are interested in getting on the waiting list please email me right away.

**Morning sessions are still available for Maternity, newborn, and children weekdays only through Oct 8

Well Howdy Miss Kallie… I so love when I get the opportunity to photograph the first girl, especially when she comes after a couple of pretty awesome big brothers.  Kallie laid on the drama, just as a princess should, but finally gave us this first shot (last) and I have to admit one of my favorites ever.  I adore her sweet nursery and what a fabulous natural light space, she had some of the cutest accessories I have seen, including the awesome pinwheel tree in the back.  Congratulation, Jake, Sarah, Clay and Cole your sweet new baby and little sister is  perfect in every way and such a lucky little girl.

I leave you with a few quotes about little girls.

I have the same goal I’ve had ever since I was a girl. I want to rule the world.
– Madonna

Little girls are precious gifts, wrapped in love serene. Their dresses tied with sashes and futures tied with dreams.

Little girls, like butterflies, need no excuse.

Any photographer will tell you newborn sessions can go so many ways.  A typical newborn session takes me between two and four hours, but this little princess came in at just one hour.  Yes, photographer friends be jealous!  I wish I could say what was different, I gave mom and dad the same instructions, warm house, full belly.  I had actually planned to take a few eyes open shots as well,  but sweet Miss Reese just slept through it all… including the one wardrobe change dad was sure would make her scream.

Reese was born to my long time friends, who I rarely get to see anymore.   When you have known someone as long as I have know these two, there is so much that can be said, stories I could tell… but when you have friends and memories as great as these, sometimes you don’t have to say anything at all. However, no matter the distance or the time between visits, I know they will always be a part of my life.  Thank you for letting me capture your beautiful new family, including Mason and “kitty” who chose not to be on a first name basis with me.  I look forward to watching you grow sweet little Reese (and thanks for making me look so good behind the camera).

Austin Folk!

If you would like to schedule an Austin appointment please send me an email via the website for details.  Out of town bookings require a minimum of three appointments, and an additional session fee of 50.00 per family.

Oh my bowl of everything sweet in this world, this precious, active, blue eyed, rolling all over the place and off my backgrounds, girl, is one of the most precious little beings I have met.

Meet Miss Elizabeth, the first girl for a family with two older brothers, and boy do I remember what that is like…  Simply amazing and very, very pink!  Welcome to the world sweet little girl, I look forward to photographing you and your two handsome older brothers for years to come!

Her beautiful Christening  gown, was made by her grandmother, and let me just say it was perfection!

Her darling little bloomers,(4th image) her mom brought along and were purchased from a fabulous little company called Ruffle Butts (find them at www.rufflebutts.com), please take a look at the website and support their business.  They truly are a company that gives back supporting many charitable organizations geared towards kids.

Blue eyes, rosy lips, chubby cheeks, and all that personality… courtesy of the man upstairs!

I adore these little ones.  Something magical happens when they are sleeping, watching them dream their little dreams, and those last moments of the session when you see a couple of those smiles **which means they are waking up**  hopefully when I come back in a few months, we will get some of sweet  Madeleine and her fiery red headed big sister.  Thanks Sherri for letting me take over your house and move pictures around to get that lovely, colorful shot of her on the changing table!  Blessings to you and your beautiful family.

Moms to be… if you are expecting and wanting to schedule a newborn session, please call me before the baby is born, so I can put you tentatively on my calendar.  Those first few days go by fast, and newborn photos are most successful if taken in the first two weeks after birth.

Something unexpected has come out of my photography business. When I started I thought how great it would be to get paid doing something I love, however I never imagined the strength in the friendships I would make. I will chalk a small portion of this up to facebook. (Because “literally” I gain a friend after each session) But in truth, through Photography, I have regained connections with friends who I haven’t seen since that last hug on the graduation field 16 years ago, I have made deeper connections with the families my children go to school with, those in my church community, and with total strangers whose friendship with me started with a phone number and a web address. All these amazing people have truly touched my life, because God gave me the gift of seeing the world in pictures.
So today as I post an amazing senior session, with the fabulous Julia, an “Angel” in more ways than one. I give this advice.
God doesn’t give a gift he won’t expect you to use,
If you find a lemon tree in your backyard, make lemon aid
If you see someone in need give them your last dollar
If a friend, hurts you, lies to you… forgive her
Prayer fixes everything, even if it just makes getting up off the ground a little easier
No matter how much you plan your life, God may have a different plan in mind for you.
It is not about who you are now as much as who you will be tomorrow.

I hope you love the sneak peek of your images as much as I loved making them! Have a fabulous Senior year!

You know that feeling when you meet someone and you know that for whatever reason, God has put them in your life… well that is how I felt about Tristian before I had ever even met her.

Tristian, designer of GracyLu original, has been blessed with this amazing gift and talent. She designs the most gorgeous hair pieces for brides, little girls, babies and for just regular gals who want to show their stuff. I could go on and on about her talent, and her business which is growing so fast. Last I saw she had over 2,000 fans on her facebook site. Which is as much a testament to her designs as the person behind them.

So aside from the fabulous original pieces she designs, she also has this amazing and very giving heart. She crusaded for everyone to know about sweet baby Layla Grace http://laylagrace.org/ who sadly lost her battle with cancer this past March. She brought this family into so many others through their prayers, that I know I will never forget this child or her story. She is an amazing Christian, who is endlessly proud of her faith and her love of God.
I am so fortunate to call her my friend.
Love you Tristian!
